a community search for curiosity-led learning

Thanks to all who joined us to create a Community Garden of Curiosity!

We asked folks at the Art in the Park event on Anderson Island to explore who we are as a learning community:

What piques your curiosity? Add them to a community mural as flowers.

What knowledge or skills do you have to share with our community? Add those resources as pollinators for this vibrant, emerging garden.

What dreams do you have for what could happen on this island? Share those wonders as clouds that float above our community and encourage us to flourish.

We’re excited to move forward as we explore how our Curiosities, Resources and Wonders can connect and shape a powerful learning journey.

Who?

The Creative Curiosity Co-Op is in its early phases of defining itself and a path forward. Our shared goal is to help open a pathway for island kids into deep learning and creative outputs, such as innovation, problem-solving, and passionately sharing knowledge with others.

Why?

This small group of islanders took inspiration from a movement embracing a different approach to education: curiosity-led learning where small experiments spark fast, iterative learning cycles and integrate students’ personal interests into the curriculum.

What?

With an amazing week-long Curiosity Camp completed in August for a small group of island kids, we asked ourselves how we could begin sharing how our curiosities connect to learning and community… and here we are: creating a Community Garden of Curiosities!

Let's make this a community-wide endeavor: become learners with our young people and unleash the power of community curiosity.
